Forty-four year old comedian H. John Benjamin is something of an oddity. He’s one of those comedians whom people don’t necessarily know by name but are familiar with their work. Like all brilliant character-actors, it’s Benjamin’s characters that shine and not the personality behind them. Sine 1995, Benjamin’s been the voice behind television’s edgiest, smartest characters. First appearing in the Comedy Central cartoon Dr. Katz, Benjamin has been a staple voice talent for cartoons of the adult animation boom of the past 15 years. The dry, slightly nasally tone of Benjamin’s voice can currently be heard on two wildly different…

I have skipped school to craft weapons in Dark Age of Camelot. According to my Steam profile, you can actually count the time I’ve spent playing Team Fortress 2 in weeks and I can’t even imagine how long I played Team Fortress Classic before that. Tribes, Half-Life, Mass Effect, World of Warcraft, FIFA and Virtua Fighter have all eaten up insane amounts of my life. There has never been a time in my life that I didn’t own a home video game system, but lately things have started to change. It’s now a rare occurrence when I stay up later…

Welcome to Comic Sense, a weekly look at the best and worst of what the comics industry has to offer. This week, I was actually able to peel myself away from Marvel vs. Capcom 3 long enough to write this column, rejoice. Justice League: Generation Lost #20 Writer: Judd Winick Illustrator: Joe Bennett Publisher: DC Comics Since the end of Blackest Night, DC has been publishing two bi-weekly series: Brightest Day and Justice League: Generation Lost. While Brightest Day has done little more than give us a hilarious panel in which Aquaman got his hand cut off AGAIN, Justice League: Generation…

Dragon Quest VI, the latest release from the Dragon Quest franchise, has been ported to the west on the Nintendo DS. Probably one of the better-looking RPGs for the system, it gives you hours of game play in a mystical fantasy world. Like a majority of the Dragon Quest games, the story revolves around a silent protagonist with a shady past and an affinity for swords. Embroiled in a struggle between the real and dream worlds, you and your teammates are tasked with saving reality from an unspeakable darkness. This is standard fare. The main storyline is not unfamiliar to…

I was often found to be laughing out loud as I spent a few hours in the pithily-rendered, coincidence-riddled, cringe-worthy life of Bad Marie. Sometimes it was just a tart aside like, “It occurred to Marie that famous people required people who were not famous to make them feel that way,” but more often it was the sheer wrong-headed audacity of the novel’s self-absorbed heroine, who has an unbelievable talent for making bad decisions and an equally remarkable strength of resolve to live free of regret. It’s this tension between her rash impulsiveness and her steely will to bull through…

As usual, stories from the DW Classic Series will be described by story number since they were made up of multiple episodes, while the new series will be described by season number and then episode number. Got it? Good! Let’s jump in! “Victory of the Daleks” (Episode 5×03) This episode begins directly from the…

Angelus is the latest Trade Paperback from Ron Marz, published by Top Cow Productions, a partner studio of Image Comics. Ron Marz is probably best know for his work on the “Emerald Twilight” storyline for Green Lantern, but has been exclusively working for Top Cow for the last three years. The eponymous Angelus refers to one of two primal forces in the Top Cow Universe alongside her male counterpart, The Darkness. The two of them, along with their offspring The Witchblade, form the Broken Trinity of the comic series with the same name. The Witchblade is currently being produced as a…
