Creating a superhero series for television is always rife with challenges. The series has to be authentic enough to satisfy the average comic reader, but not be so geeky that it doesn’t appeal to a mainstream viewer. It must have good quality special effects that come in under budget, and unless it’s specifically a comedy, it must avoid becoming corny. Finally, the series needs to build just the right amount longevity into its storyline to retain interest. No Ordinary Family is the latest entry into television’s superhero genre, and in writing, seems to tick a lot of the right boxes….

Inductive charging… it’s a pretty awesome sounding concept. The idea that electrical devices can be powered merely by being within an emitted electrical field is about as futuristic sounding as things get these days. What if this technology could be used to power electronic devices throughout your entire house or better yet an entire office building, just by entering the front doors? The possibilities are pretty astounding. Of course, we are a very long way from that, but with companies like Energizer making this technology available to techies like you and me, the question is becoming ”when” more so than “what if”. Recently, Energizer joined a…

In late 2009, Gospel Claws began recording their debut LP, C–L–A–W–S at Flying Blanket Recording in Mesa, Arizona. The band co-produced and tracked entirely with Bob Hoag (The Format, Joel Plaskett), who mostly recorded the band live, except for vocals and some ancillary instrumentation. This was a departure from the band’s previous recording methods, which had been recorded layer by layer to a click track. The results of these “live on the floor” recording sessions, with no tempo mapping or extensive over-dubbing, showcased a band that had become surprisingly tight and polished, but still had plenty of timing swing to…

In 2009, Paranormal Activity took theaters by storm. What began as a micro-budget horror film became a box office juggernaut. Now in 2010, and just in time for Halloween, Paranormal Activity 2 has hit screens nationwide. What may seem like an attempt to milk a lucrative title (which it is) actually turns out to be an excellent piece of horror cinema. The set up sticks to the formula, and the house, cameras, and night owl demonic…
